Dry Fire Sprinkler
A dry type sprinkler head is a type of fire sprinkler system that is specifically designed for use in environments where freezing temperatures are a concern. Unlike traditional fire sprinkler systems that are filled with water at all times, dry sprinkler systems are filled with pressurized air or nitrogen instead.
The dry sprinkler head consists of a heat-sensitive element, usually a glass bulb or a fusible link, that holds back the pressurized air or gas inside the sprinkler pipe. When a fire occurs and the ambient temperature reaches a certain threshold, the heat-sensitive element shatters or the link melts, releasing the air or gas and allowing the water to flow into the sprinkler system.
Dry type sprinkler heads are commonly used in unheated spaces such as warehouses, parking garages, attics, and outdoor structures where the temperature can dip below freezing. They are also utilized in regions with cold climates where the risk of frozen pipes is significant.
